Tom Cook, Principal
Tom’s primary responsibility is to oversee and direct the strategic and operations management of the firm. This role entails King·Casey’s core business processes: client service delivery, client business development, design and implementation delivery, new service development and new business development.
Tom’s expertise in marketing, new business development and strategic design spans a broad range of clients and industries that includes Pepsi Cola, Taco Bell, KFC, Subway, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Black & Decker, Nestle and Ralston Purina among others.
Tom frequently speaks on marketing, design and retail strategy issues and has had articles published in leading trade publications such as QSR Magazine, Nations Restaurant News, DIY Retailing, Franchise Times, Progressive Grocer and Point of Purchase Magazine.
Tom is also a former Board Member of the Association of Professional Design Firms and a member of the Institute of Store Planners.
Howland Blackiston, Principal
Howland launched his career doing award-winning creative work on Madison Avenue. In 1979 he co-founded Juran Institute, Inc. (pioneers in continuous quality improvement) and built the Juran brand into the largest and most prestigious quality consultancy in the world. The company specializes in how companies manage quality to reduce costs, improve profits, and to become more competitive. Working with some of the most recognized companies in the world, Howland emerged as a noted authority in the processes of continuous improvement and how organizations ensure the loyalty of customers. Howland served as President and Chief Creative Officer of Juran Institute for over 20 years.
Howland has published many professional papers, authored books, and has traveled extensively as the featured speaker at hundreds of events and media broadcasts all around the world. He is the creator and executive producer of over 150 multimedia training programs, and was the on-air host of a daily business news segment on the USA Cable Network. Collectively, Howland's publications have been translated into 16 languages and have been utilized by organizations in over 40 countries.
As principal at King·Casey, Howland serves a portfolio of clients in the retail and foodservice and restaurant fields, and is a key proponent of King·Casey's COZI™ (Customer Operating Zone Improvement) strategic discipline and process. King·Casey is one of the premiere retail consulting and design firms in the U.S.
Howland is a member of American Society for Quality, The Project Management Institute, and was a National Judge for the Blue Chip Enterprise Award. He is a director of the Westport School of Music, sits on the Board for Metropool, and is Vice Chairman of the Board of Advisors for Fairfield University School of Engineering.
